I have spent hours trying to remove babylon totally from my computer until I found this site and your solution.
A great thankyou

Thank you!!!

babylon is dishonest, it comes hidden in other programs and we are forced to have their search engine eventhough we don't want it. I will NEVER in sound mind buy or use their products again. I followed these instructions above and found nothing like what is described here, but I did find two registry entries without vowels that I am sure belong to Babylon, which were something like this:
bbylntlbr (would be babylontoolbar without the vowels)
and another I don't remember. To remove it you have to enter the REGEDIT area and look for them in the
one is after the other. Still don't know if it will work, but those were the only files I could find so far in the registry area, after uninstalling and following every tip I found on the internet. Hope it works!

Anonymous said...

Following this guide has really worked!
After hours of hair-pulling the babylon bar is gone!

Anonymous said...

I also found two babylon registry files. One was called called bbylntlbr.bbylntlbrHlpr. and the other bbylntlbr.bbylntlbrHlpr.1. I done this using the REGEDIT.exe, though mine were not found in the \AppID section of the •HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT folder. I do have a feeling that theses files are not the only ones, it would be a great help if anyone could post on here the full titles of any babylon registry files they find. This problem is really getting to me and this is the best thing ive came across for help anywhere! I also didnt find any of the given registry's on the list given above. Plz help everyone and good luck!

Plain and simple this is what worked for me , 1st open IE explorer click tools /manage ad-ons click /more information/ copy all reg keys then you need to go in to safe mode then type regedit in run command then use reg editor got to edit tan click find search each key and delete until it does not find key and repeat then do the same with the word babylon and repeat same process this gets rid of the toolbar and the home page that sets itself that takes care of all browsers..

In my registry editor I found a folder named Babylon (My Computer\HKEY_local_machine\software\Babylon). Can I just delete that folder or would that mess up something else in the computer.

Also under the part about ( Internet Explorer\aboutURLS)how do I go about changing the tabs to http//

Babylon creates hidden folders like this: C:\Program Files\dfdfsdds\dfmjfdfshj\

Hi there,

For this step...

5. Select Search Providers. First of all, choose Bing search engine and make it your default search provider (set as default). Then select Search the web (Babylon) and click Remove button to uninstall it (lower right corner of the window).

I am not able to click on the Remove button or Set as Default as they are greyed out. I have other Search providers in the list and can click on the Remove/Default buttons for them. Any suggestions??

You are a genius, Fernando Tiani. This Babylon bug has bothered me for more than a year. I have searched the Net, Googled countless Fora and Bloggs containing "a lot of crap". Nothing helped until I found your comment and easy recipe!
I am eternally grateful...

Anonymous said...

Thank you so much for your help! I didn't realize Google Chrome has 2 or more home pages.

This link should be posted on Wikipedia, where Babylon is claimed to be a legitimate company.

I have a question, though, is it OK to just go into Registry and manually delete Babylon files from wow3264 directory? I never worked with registry entries before and don't know if I need an additional software or is it safe to do it by myself.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for this precise piece of information, I could successfully remove "babylon search" after many useless attempts and reading a lot of unhelpfull blogs before I hit upon your page. Great work ;)

Anonymous said...

Wow I finally found you! and finally got rid totally of that Babylon crap from both my IE and Firefox. And glad to say my computer doesn't want to change its appearance anymore either. That software controls more than people thinK!

Anonymous said...

After following instructions, I still had Babylon opening as a separate tab when I opened Google Chrome.

I went to Customise and Control Google Chrome (the wrench in the top right corner) and opened Settings.

Under “On Start Up” the option Open a specific page or set of pages is selected. Click the “Set pages” link next to this. Then delete the option for Babylon.

I followed your instructions to remove babylon from Firefox, didn't work at all. When I restart the browser (Firefox 14.0.1) all is back like before. Perhaps I'll have to reset the computer with the last backup. Sigh...

Thank you so much for making my FF browser get rid of this babylon thing. Your article rocks!

Getting back to the comment that Babylon is no longer regarded as 'Malware' I beg to differ. I had the misfortune to come across it when downloading a technical document and despite opting not to install it, it just installed itself anyway. Hardly surprising then that it got the most downloaded browser award! As has also been mentioned, the Babylon uninstall doesn't remove itself completely, leaving you plagued by unwanted elements of it. I'm sorry to disagree but that sort of behaviour to me definitely makes it MALWARE ! Shame on the company that produce it. I got rid of it in the end but it took me some time. The guide given here is excellent.

Anonymous said...

Thank you SO MUCH. I have tried so many other pieces of advice on the net and yours is by far the best. I have removed every last trace of Babylon thanks to you. Hooray! GC

I'm another happy person saying thank you for such extensive information.

It took awhile and a lot of digging, since it was still going to their home page even after being uninstalled, but by digging deeper and deeper with your instructions we got the bastards.

Thank You for the help. It's was very usefull command "about:config" with reseting all changes babylon made.

Isn't work in Mozila Firefox. After all steps and after restarting Mozilla this damned home page babylon still exists...

Anonymous said...

It's very important! If you see in add/remove programs window also "browser manager" or "B-protector" please uninstall it!!! And make then all the steps mentioned in this topic. I finded today on my computer Browser Manager, removed it and then hited command about:config, reseted all lines realated with Babylon and finally after Mozilla reloading babylon home page dissapeared. This reciept took for me Babylon support.

This Whole thing reminds me of Spy-Sheriff years ago. Except now you get the people who invented this Babylon Hijacker thing instructing you to DL this and that "SpyWare-Removal" program instead of just trying to mug you outright by telling you you can purchase the removal key. Then again I see the offer to "Purchase" Babylon for $5.99? and I'm guessing this gives one the ability to Actually and Properly uninstall it?
Anyone ever notice that the majority of these less heard of but "Most Effective" removal programs all look like they had their sites, graphics and logos designed my the same guy? This stuff sickens me. It's like a big rope a dope thing were 3 "different" companies with basically the same program/removal tool with just Sightly different graphic interfaces make tons of money off the latest "Mysterious" hijacker. Unbelievable !!!!

I have uninstalled it and restated my computer, removed it from both chrome and Internet Explorer but it still pops up on my chome? Can you tell me why and how to rid of it once and for all.

Anonymous said...

For Firefox I managed to get rid of it by typing about:config into the search bar (clicking OK after that) and then finding for feedhelper. You may see that next to keyword.url the value filed next to it will have feedhelper somewhere in the text. Right click on keyword.url and click Modify. Then delete whatever text comes up. Then press OK.
