You can uninstall conduit toolbar very easily, which is done the same way you uninstall any program, via add/remove programs in the control panel. However, conduit search engine can't be uninstalled easily in Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. You need to change settings and remove search providers manually. This brings use to what we consider the more interesting question. Why so many companies fail to create proper uninstallers? Such practice makes them look untrustworthy. It isn't malware, although it is frustrating. I found myself explaining the basics over and over again, so I decided to write a simple, step-by-step guide on how to remove search.conduit.com in Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. Please follow the removal instructions below. Good luck and be safe online!
Added: Someone asked how I to remove Search.conduit.com from Google Chrome. At the time I wrote this removal guide, Conduit products were only targeting Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. But now this company is going after Chrome users as well. There is nothing really surprising since Chrome market share increased has increased phenomenally during the last six months. Due to increased volume of emails I get from you guys regarding this issue, I had update this post and make the removal instructions more detailed and up to date. It seems that nothing really changed the way Search Conduit interacts with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. If comparing with the last years installers, they are now compatible with all major web browsers and modify more Firefox's preferences. The removal instructions below were updated according to the latest Conduit installers.
Not only search.conduit.com redirect became compatible with all major web browsers, the installer itself got new features and products, for example Coupon Buddy and Price Gong adware. Previously, Search Conduit came mostly as a standalone application and everyone could remove it separately. Now it's usually a part of another application, so in order to completely remove Search Conduit, you have to remove the application it came with first and then restore default web browser settings manually or simply reset it. The main difference is that if you choose to reset it, then you will lose your bookmarks, browsing history and saved passwords. Of course, you can export them at any time.
Last, but not least, it seems clear that this application comes bundled with audio and video players, HD codecs and converters. Please read installation screens and EULA very carefully even if you downloaded an application from the official website.
Search.conduit.com removal instructions:
1. First of all, download recommended anti-malware software and run a full system scan. It will detect and remove this infection from your computer. You may then follow the manual removal instructions below to remove the leftover traces of this browser hijacker. Hopefully you won't have to do that.
2. Go to the Start Menu. Select Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs.
If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, select Control Panel → Uninstall a Program.
Look for Conduit associated applications and uninstall them. For example, if you recently installed video converter or music player or any other application and got the Search.conduit.com browser hijacker, then there's a good chance it came with one of those applications. Conduit won't be listed, so you have to remove associated applications.

Sorry but this does not work for me in Firefox. In about:config, I have 25 keys with "conduit" in them, some in the label and some in the value:
- CT2801948 (10)
- CommunityToolbar*conduit* (14)
- Keyword.URL (1)
My homepage was never changed by CommunityToolbar.
Help?

sctiong 1PLEASE READ!!!
It was frustrating at first but I got rid of it. Here's what I did:
1. - Bookmark this page in case you need it later
2. - Click on your "Firefox" desktop icon to open it up in a new window. It should open up to the lame-o "conduit" (mock Google) search page. RIGHT CLICK (on the piece o' crap page) > VIEW PAGE INFO > Under the PERMISSIONS TAB, uncheck EVERYTHING and click BLOCK for EVERYTHING related to "search.conduit.com".
I also recommend doing a: START > CONTROL PANEL > SEARCH > ALL FILES AND FOLDERS > (type in) CONDUIT and DELETE the conduit folder (I think it's in the "program files" folder.
Lastly, do the about:config trick for good measure.
There's more than one way to skin a cat. Sometimes it best to skin it EVERY WAY you can.
PS - F! U! CONDUIT! You FAIL at life and everyone hates you. ;P
who the fuck uses IE in the first place in this day and age. These instructions are useless.
^ What a complete moron. Most of the human population still uses IE and this guide is for both IE and Firefox. Open your eyes dude.
Excellent Instructions! Thank you for the help. Worked exactly as you said it would. Screen shots were helpful too.
I have fixed my other 2 browsers but on firefox browser.startup.homepage wont reset? i tried modifying it but it wont change.
Thank you so much! You're instructions are so easy to follow, and it removed that annoying malware.
Have gone through the steps for the internet explorer removal of conduit but under search providers it doesn't show bing only google and nothing to remove or uninstall but when I change my default webpage or anything its still all installed on the computer. Any other helpful hints to get this stupid malicious program to go away would be most appreciated. Thank you.
Merci pour l'aide, je commençais à enrager la dessus.
Thank you very, very much! I ended up with this blasted thing on my computer thanks (make that NO thanks) to Swann Security's suggestion to install K-lite codec pack. As part of the install, my browser was hijacked by conduit, and even running a Restore on my computer didn't get rid of it. I am SO grateful for your help!
Thank you! This helped greatly in removing the search.conduit bug from Firefox & IE. A combination of your instructions plus those posted in comments by Anonymous on Oct. 14,2012 did the trick for me. At first Firefox wouldn't let me reset a few of the conduit files in the about:config step, but after I followed Anon's steps, I went back to the main instructions & could reset them. So far, so good. Thanks much!!
Thank you so much. Your directions are excellent. I got this when I THOUGHT I was downloading a program to enhance "safe browsing". Ha!
Thanks again.
Sharon
YES! It actually worked, thank you so much!

I would like to thank the person fore his effort's 2 clean things up, like this hack hijacker., I did in fact use your words of advice. ( I PIGGEY BACKED YAHOO
TOOL BAR: into MY SEARCH BROWSER.)
if ANY ONE WILL TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT THE CODE-ING., ) You all will see that the same code-ing works with the GATE KEEPER.
I used msconfig and found they execute c:/users//AppData/roaming/SearchProtect/bin/cltmng.exe... and the startup is in the registry HKCU/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run ... I believe I may have gotten this from Vuze... I've deleted this key from regedit and nuked the executable. That should do it.
